Help with your gallery

Your photos and videos are safe and waiting for you. Most questions are answered below, and if yours is not, we are happy to help.

The download stops partway on my phone or tablet

Phones and tablets save downloads into their own storage, and a full gallery can easily be bigger than the space you have free. When the space runs out, the download quietly stops, often without telling you why.

If you only want a few favourites, save them one at a time, or choose a smaller section from the Download menu. To keep the whole gallery safe, we recommend downloading on a computer or laptop with plenty of free space, on your home wifi, and leaving it open until it finishes. If the download is interrupted, the link lets it pick up where it left off.

Saving to Photos on an iPhone

Open your FileCurator gallery and tap any photo or video to open it, then tap the Save to Photos button. If the button changes to Tap to save, tap it once more. Your phone will then show its own save options. Tap Save Image for a photo or Save Video for a video, and it is now saved to your camera roll.

The link or password is not working

Passwords are case sensitive, so it is worth checking capital letters and any stray spaces. If the gallery says it has expired, or the link opens to nothing, please get in touch with the person who shared it with you. Before a gallery expires, its owner can extend how long it stays live from their account. Once it has expired, the files are removed and the FileCurator team is unable to bring them back, but the owner can upload and share them with you again.

A video will not play

Videos are prepared for smooth playback shortly after they are uploaded. If one shows as still processing, give it a few minutes and refresh the page. If it plays but keeps stopping, the issue is the internet connection, not the video itself. Downloading the file and playing it on your device always works.

The download finished but the files look wrong

A gallery download arrives as a single zip file. On a computer, double-click it to unzip the folder and all your photo and video files are inside. On a phone, open your Downloads (in the Files app on an iPhone) and tap the zip file once to unpack it. If the zip file will not open at all, the download most likely stopped early, usually because the internet connection dropped or your device ran out of storage space. Delete the zip file and try again, ideally on a computer if the gallery is large.
